The owner of a gambling den in turn of the century New York city clashes with a lawman who was a childhood friend. They soon discover that they are both in love with the nightclub singer Mary Hayes (Nancy Kelly).

Trivia: Nancy Kelly was nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for The Bad Seed (1956). Chester Morris (Ross Hadley) was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for Alibi (1929). Russell Hayden (Mike McGlennon) was best known for his roles in western movies and TV shows. He starred in the 1950s TV series Cowboy G-Men.
