In 1939, an Austrian doctor (Anthony Hopkins) who helped Jews escape from the Nazis lives an anonymous life in Paris. One night on a bridge over the Seine he finds a woman (Lesley-Anne Down) about to commit suicide. He rescues her and a romance ensues.

Trivia: Anthony Hopkins is a four-time Academy Award nominee for Best Actor. He won the award for his role as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. Lesley Anne Down starred in the miniseries The Last Days of Pompeii and North and South. She's also had major roles in soap operas such as The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives. Donald Pleasence (Haake) played Dr. Sam Loomis in the Halloween movies.
