When newlywed Kay (Elizabeth Taylor) makes the shocking announcement to her parents that they will soon be grandparents, her father (Spencer Tracy) has problems adjusting, but he soon becomes the person who helps her out the most in preparing for her new life.
Trivia: This film was the sequel to Father of the Bride (1950) which was also made into a TV series that ran from 1961-1962. Spencer Tracy won two Best Actor Oscars and is considered one of the greatest movie actors of all time. Elizabeth Taylor was nominated five times for Best Actress, winning the award twice. Director Vincente Minelli won an Oscar for 1958's Gigi and is regarded as one of the most successful film directors of all time. He was married to actress Julie Garland and is the father of Lisa Minelli. Screenwriters Francis Goodrich and her husband Albert Hackett received four nominations for the Best Screenplay Oscar. They also wrote the screenplay for It's a Wonderful Life.
