Navy Lieutenant Robert Maynard joins a pirate crew under disguise to investigate a fellow Navy officer whom he suspects is engaged in piracy. Once on board the ship however, Maynard finds himself in the clutches of the infamous Blackbeard and he must find a way to escape.
Trivia: Actor William Bendix was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1943 for the film Wake Island. Alan Le May wrote the screenplay for this movie. He's best remembered as the author of two novels that became classic Western movies, The Searchers and The Unforgiven.
