The biblical story of Esther. In the 5th century before Christ, King Ahasuerus of Persia chooses Esther to be his Queen. They work together to defeat the evil minister Haman and his persecution of the Jews.

Trivia: Joan Collins is best known for playing Alexis Carrington on the Dynasty TV series. Darryl Zanuck originally began production of The Story of Esther for 20th Century Fox and commissioned a screenplay. In 1952 actress Hedy Lamarr, working with Universal, bought the script and planned to produce the movie starring herself as Esther, but the movie was never made.
